Kashmir failed to promote homeopathy, says health Minister

Stating that private practice by doctors is unfortunate, Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma Monday said successive regimes in the State have failed to promote homeopathic system of treatment in the State.
“60 per cent world population still believes in homeopathic system of treatment and only 40 per cent prefer allopathic treatment. But unfortunately, the successive governments in the State have ignored homeopathic system of treatment and have failed to promote it,” Sharma said during an inaugural function of 50-bed Unani Hospital at Shalteng.
The health minister said present government was serious in promoting the homeopathic system. “The government has taken several projects in hand to build adequate infrastructure for its promotion in last three years. We need to promote this system of treatment as it is without any side effects.
He expressed surprise over private practice of some doctors. “The government pays doctors handsomely, more than any other profession, yet they indulge in private practice. It is is unfortunate and painful”, he said.
