The supreme court of India reserves the verdict for homoeopathic treatment of Covid 19 patients

updated15.12.2020 -The Supreme Court on Tuesday (15.12.2020) said qualified AYUSH doctors and homeopaths can prescribe government-approved tablets, mixtures as add-on drugs to conventional treatment for Covid positive patients, upholding the ministry's Mar 6 advisory.But the Top Court also said Ayush doctors cannot advertise anything as a cure, it added.

The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday said that there was lack of clarity in the Ministry of Ayush advisory on allowing homeopathic medical practitioners to prescribe even add-on or preventive treatment for COVID-19 patients.

AYUSH and IMA controversy continues

Scientists working in the AYUSH fields have hit back at the Indian Medical Association for labelling their medicine systems “unscientific”.

A few days back Indian Medical Association (IMA) representing around 3.5 lakh doctors in the country had slammed Union Health Minister Shri Harsh Vardhan’s move to promote alternative medicines and yoga for Covid-19 patients, and challenged the minister to answer five questions, including how many of his ministerial colleagues have so far got treated under AYUSH protocols.

Clinical trial of Homoeopathic medicine in covid therapy in final stages

Data collection has been completed for a clinical trial for homeopathic preventive medication for Covid-19 after its final lap at the Government Homeopathy College in Bhopal. About 200 people were part of the trials, ratified by Clinical Trial Registry of India (CTRI) and ICMR.The analysis phase of the clinical trial is underway.

Homoeopaths across Kerala to protest against IMA comments

Indian Medical association (IMA) during a television interview a few days back insulted the AYUSH doctors especially the homoeopaths in kerala and across the world. Homoeopathic United Movement (HUM) consisting of all the major associations of homoeopathic community has announced a black day as protest on 11th of September 2020 against the comments of the IMA state Vice President Dr Sulfi. All the homoeopathic doctors in the government department will be protesting against the insult by having an additional  one hour duty after the stipulated duty hours.

AYUSH Doctors cannot Practice Allopathy in Emergencies, Says Karnataka

The Karnataka state government has ordered that AYUSH doctors cannot prescribe allopathic medications even during emergencies.

Earlier the AYUSH doctors were authorized to do so. The orders states that there is no scope for a person enrolled on the state or the central register of Indian medicine to practice modern scientific medicine in any office branches unless that the person is also enrolled on a state medical register within the meaning of 1956 Act.

The main rank list includes 248 candidates and many more in the supplementary rank lists. The advice memo from PSC and the Appointment order from the Director of homeopathy has yet to be  issued.
