Dr. Robin Murphy passes away

Dr. Robin Murphy, great author, academician and international homoeopath  passed away today and a great loss for the homoeopathic fraternity

Dr. Robin Murphy was born on August 15, 1950 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He had carried out his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. There he discovered their homeopathic collection and became curious and interested with the system it described.

In 1976 he entered the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM), on a Hahnemann Scholarship. While at the school he studied with Dr. Ravi Sahni and Dr. John Bastyr. He directed the homeopathy program at NCNM from 1980-1984. He also taught at Bastyr University.

Dr. Murphy was one of the earliest seminar teachers and was responsible for introducing many people to homeopathy. He takes a practical approach to homeopathic education, bringing clarity to the interrelation between philosophy, Materia medica, and repertory work.

Dr. Robin Murphy, ND is a naturopathic physician who has been teaching and practicing Homeopathy, Oriental Medicine, Tai Chi and Qigong (Chi Kung) for over 30 years. He is an internationally recognized author and researcher on Homeopathy and Medical Qigong.

He published the Homeopathic Medical Repertory in 1993, and the Lotus Materia Medica in 1996. He became the director of the Hahnemann Academy of North America which sponsors seminars on homeopathy and natural medicine.

Many years ago, Dr. Murphy had learned a rare Buddhist Qigong system from the grandmaster Liu Siong. Liu Siong learned it from the Buddhist monks of the Shaolin monastery in China. The legendary monks revealed to Liu Siong the Qi movements and Qi meditations taught centuries ago by Tibetan lamas. Also, many of the Qigong movements and meditations originated from the Tai Chi school of Qigong and martial arts.

Dr. Murphy is the author of some of the most utilized books on homeopathy in the field. Dr. Murphy's Meta Repertory is in its fourth edition (with the first edition being published in 1993) and used by homeopaths, healthcare professionals, colleges, and students worldwide. With his repertory, Dr. Murphy set out to make an easier, more modern and useful repertory, thus solving many of the criticisms of prior works. Dr. Murphy included updated and modern terminology and clinical information relevant to contemporary practice.

The Meta Repertory was designed to be a complete rewrite and major upgrade of the Homeopathic Clinical Repertory (3rd edition). The new Meta Repertory contains 49 chapters arranged in 3 sections; Mind, Body and Clinical. The book has been updated to be a more clinical, practical, and easy-to-use reference guide to the vast homeopathic Materia medica. The Meta Repertory contains thousands of new rubrics, additions, and updates from modern and historical sources.

Nature's Materia Medica is the 4rd edition of Dr. Murphy's Materia Medica. Changes such as a bigger print, a blank side on each page for note taking and putting the footnotes under the paragraph they relate to make the unapproachable Organon in the original format into a more understandable text.
