The Symptoms of Norovirus and homoeopathy

The Symptoms of Norovirus and homoeopathy

Norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea that is mild but could be life threatening. Although norovirus more commonly causes infection during the winter months, it can affect people at any time of the year. People of all ages can get infected and sick with norovirus. Norovirus is sometimes called the stomach flu or stomach bug. Norovirus is a member of the Caliciviridae family of viruses. A infected person with norovirus illness can shed billions of norovirus particles. And only a few virus particles can make other people sick. These are transmitted by direct contact with an infected person, Consuming contaminated food or water, Touching contaminated surfaces and then putting your unwashed hands in your mouth

the symptoms include Vomiting, diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain. these may be associated with fever headaches and body aches. Norovirus causes inflammation of the stomach or intestines ( Gastroenteritis). The symptoms are manifested 12 to 48 hours after being infected and many people recover from the illness in 1 to 3 days

If you have norovirus illness, you can feel extremely ill, and vomit or have diarrhea many times a day. This can lead to dehydration, especially in young children, older adults, and people with other illnesses.

You can get norovirus illness many times in your life because there are many different types of noroviruses. Infection with one type of norovirus may not protect you against other types. It is possible to develop immunity to specific types. But, it is not known exactly how long immunity lasts. This may explain why so many people of all ages get infected during norovirus outbreaks. Also, whether you are going to be infected with to norovirus  is  determined by your susceptibility

The transmission can be prevented by Washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water, especially after using the toilet or changing diapers, always before eating, preparing, or handling food, and before giving yourself or someone else medicine.

Norovirus can be found in your vomit or feces even before you start feeling sick. The virus can also stay in your feces for two weeks or more after you feel better. It is important to continue washing your hands often during this time.

You can use hand sanitizers in addition to hand washing, but you should not use hand sanitizer as a substitute for washing your hands with warm water and soap. Handwashing is always best. Hand sanitizers aren’t as effective as washing hands with water and soap at removing norovirus particles

Carefully wash fruits and vegetables before preparing and eating them. Cook oysters and other shellfish thoroughly before eating them. Be aware that noroviruses are relatively resistant to heat. They can survive temperatures as high as 145°F. Quick steaming processes that are often used for cooking shellfish may not heat foods sufficiently to kill noroviruses.

Food that might be contaminated with norovirus should be thrown out. Keep sick infants and children out of areas where food is being handled and prepared.

You should not prepare food for others or provide healthcare while you are sick and for at least two days after symptoms stop. This also applies to sick workers in restaurants, schools, daycares, long-term care facilities, and other places where they may expose people to norovirus Floor cleaning can be done with  Bleach-based household cleaner To help make sure that food is safe from norovirus, routinely clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, counters, and surfaces before preparing food.
