Demand for alternative treatments

Traditional medicinal forms such as Ayurveda, naturopathy, massage, acupuncture and acupressure are finding takers in corporate India, a survey reveals. The study by industry body Assocham reveals that over 72% of corporate employees are switching over to ayurvedic treatments like naturopathy, massage, acupuncture and acupressure due to demanding schedules. Over 200 respondents participated in the survey from across industrial sectors.
"The demand for homeopathy and ayurvedic medicines has increased in the last few years and for ailments such as respiratory diseases, fever, skin diseases, viral infections, asthma and allergic disorders, people are choosing the traditional way of treatment," says Assocham.
Respondents also felt that homeopathy and ayurveda are more personalized treatments with greater one-on-one interaction between the patient and the physician. The dependency on Ayurvedic medicine has gradually improved for lifestyle diseases such as migraine, stress, obesity, and asthma.
